Forth Worth’s Fa$e is back with another track/video directed by buzzing videography team and frequent contributor, The Shooters led by Hype Trilliams. Formally known as Lil FaceTime, Fa$e has long been one of DFW’s up and coming artists, putting out hot records since early 2016. We’ve come to expect this sort of thing from Fa$e, his 2017 has been full of consistent singles and a quality EP titled Cute as Fuck which dropped this summer. “Brand New” is no different, produced by Austin’s SadderRyuken, the anime styled beat lends perfectly to Fa$e’s style as he skates through his verses switching flows whenever he feels like it.
The visual is colorful, they always tend to be whenever Fa$e links with Hype, the go-to videographer for some of the Dallas area’s best artists right now. The two made some magic with the visual for “Johnny Money” released last month and they only get better with “Brand New”. Fa$e shows off a little bit of southside Fort Worth, as the video jumps between locations, his character is loud and the confidence is evident. He has a knack for everything from punchlines to catchy hooks and enough sauce to make it seem effortless. I haven’t seen an artist rock sunglasses like these with a headband since Soulja Boy, and I’m not sure anybody else could pull it off.
It’s only a matter of time before the Forth Worth star blasts off, few people have been as consistent over the last 2 years as Fa$e. I’m surprised some of the numbers aren’t higher, sometimes in a crowded scene even some of the best can fall through the cracks. The way I see it,”Brand New” is another catchy single to add to the resume as I predict a huge 2018 coming his way. Until then the “Southside Bby” will keep making plays.
